Tips for freshers

I've been living in Grenoble for two years now and it was relatively easy for me to make new friends : I shared a apartment with three other people and they were very attentive toward me. They had been living in Grenoble for five years so they made me discover the city with all its concert halls, great pubs...

So if I have to give a good tip for freshers that would be share an apartment with other people. But there are a lot of drawbacks with sharing a apartment and lots of people prefer living alone.

For these people, I suggest to make as much as possible the activities and that the universities offer. On the campus, you can practise a sport, I think all sports are suggested. With doing sport (particularly team sports) you meet plenty of people who may become your friends. There are also some workshops and associations that may help you to meet people that are in the same case as you are.

So don't be shy, be yourself and go ahead !

Where can I go?

There is a park in the campus where I often go with my friends on the afternoon. Its name is the arboretum Robert Ruffier-Lanche but I call it the "planets 'park" because the solar system is represented with all its planets . It is situated near the gymnasums of SUAPS university. You can't miss it : there is a big bowl of aluminium (which represents the sun) at the entrance. You can go there by taking the bus 11 and stopping at "épicéa".
I like going to this park because it's near my university (5min by walk) and it's a peacefull place where I can relax and study in calm. It's also an arboretum with a great diversity of trees, plants and there is also a pond with amazonian frogs inside !During the summer they make a very strange noise...All the trees and the plants come from different places all over the world : there is, for example, a very odd tree which comes from China and it's my favourite ! Under every tree or plant, a little board indicates its origin.
All along the walk, there are some benches carved in the wood and the different planets are made at the same scale as the sun at the entrance. They are also situated as in reality : You have to go far in the park to see Neptune.
So I hope you'll go to this park, to see this beautiful nature !
